Free toothbrushes for the whole family

I started my day this morning at the dentist (Ugh! is there a worse way to start that day than at the dentist?!). But while I was there, I was able to score some great coupons, and that made the trip worth it!

My dentist always sends me home with a free toothbrush and toothpaste. But even better than the freebie, is the bag. The bag has several coupons on it and they can equal big savings. There are a total of five coupons – three are for $1 off a Colgate toothbrush, two are worth $1 off toothpaste and the fifth coupon is worth 75 cents off of floss.

Those savings are good on their own, but they can be even better when you combine them with in-store coupons. Fred Meyer was offering an in-store ad where the toothbrushes (after the sale) were $1. Since I had a manufactures coupon, I was able to layer it with the in-store coupon and my total price was $0! Since the dentist had given me three of the coupons, I was able to get three toothbrushes for free!

I also used Fred Meyer’s in-store sales to save another 75 cents on the toothpaste. When I combined that with my coupon from the dentist, I only spent 25 cents! Not bad. With Easter right around the corner, I’m sure the Bunny is going to bringing lots of candy to our house and we know that candy can equal cavaties. But thanks to the coupons from my dentist, I’m ready!

Stretch your yoga budget!

I go to yoga classes and I love them. But I have a secret. I don’t go for the stretching or the meditating or the health benefits, even though all of those are great things. I go because it is QUIET. If there is one thing that I don’t have in my life, it is quiet time. I’m sure most moms out there can agree with me, right?!

Whether you are new to yoga or should be teaching a class yourself, here’s some great tips to stretch your yoga budget.

1)      Class discounts: When you sign up for a yoga class, make sure and ask about a new student discount. Most places will offer new students a first class at a significantly lower rate. And while you are asking about discounts, don’t forget to ask about military, student, or senior discounts if any of those apply to you.

2)      Save big on supplies: With Spring just around the corner, lots of stores are offering “get in shape” promotions. This is a great time of year to find great deals on yoga mats, blocks, and towels. (If you are going to do hot yoga, I highly recommend investing in a yoga towel!)

3)      Daily inspiration for FREE: If you are worried about your inspiration fading, don’t be because alignyo is here for you! This is from their website: alignyo is a community that celebrates yoga. Whether you’re a not-so-bendy newbie or a sinewy warrior, we roll out all the in-the-know recommendations, information and inspiration you’ll need to get on your yoga mat … daily to your inbox.

So what are you waiting for? Get inspired, grab your yoga mat, and head out to the nearest yoga class. And if I happen to be in class with you, I’m not ignoring you…I’m just enjoying the quiet.

Free (and almost free!) items at Target

Did you get the Target ad in your paper this week? It is full of great deals! I needed an excuse to go to Target anyway, so I was happy to take full advantage of the coupons. I even got a few items for free, and isn’t that the best price?!

I should be clear that I am not one of those extreme couponers you see on TV. I haven’t been able to buy 17 carts of groceries for only 17 cents (and frankly, I’m not sure I’m buying it that others have, either). But I do love to coupon and I love to score good deals and that’s just what I did at Target.

Target’s ad is full of store coupons, which means you can layer them with manufacture coupons to get the best deal. I was able to do that and scored four great deals:

  • Nexcare bandages: Target coupon for 75 cents off; manufacture coupon for $1 off equals= FREE.
  • Aquafresh kids toothpaste: Target coupon for $1 off; manufacture coupon for $1 off equals= FREE (A good couponing tip: my manufacture coupon came from my kids’ dentist. Always be on the look out for coupons.)
  • Greeting cards: Target coupon for $2 off 3 cards. I bought 3 cards for $1.99 each equals=$4.

And don’t forget to look on the back of the ad – there is a coupon for a FREE $5 gift card when you spend $75. As if I needed another excuse to go back to Target!
